The Threefold Revelation of Jesus Christ

I find it extremely interesting that many times in Scripture, God will sign some revelation of Himself with the number three. Here the writer of Hebrews gives us a threefold revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, Jesus is called the brightness of God’s Glory. Throughout history, God has revealed Himself in various ways to those who hungered after Him. What the inspired writer is telling us is that Jesus is the Ultimate Unveiling of God’s Glory. God’s Glory in Scripture often refers to His tangible manifested Presence in the midst of His people. The prophet Isaiah declared over seven centuries before the birth of Jesus that His name would be “Emanu-El,” God with us (Is. 7:14)! John tells us that the Eternal Logos became flesh “and we beheld His glory” (Jn. 1:14). And then Paul lets us know that Christ in us is the hope of glory (Col. 1:27). Think of it! If your faith is in Christ Jesus, then He is in you. Since He is in you, not only is God’s Glory in you, but there is the potential for that Glory to manifest supernaturally through you to bring salvation, healing and blessing to a hurting world!

Second, the writer of Hebrews calls Jesus the express image of God’s Person. The Greek word translated “express image” is the word from which we get our English word “character.” So we could say that Jesus is the Ultimate Expression of God’s Character. When Philip asked for a revelation of the Father God, Jesus declared that to see Him was to see the Father (Jn. 14:9). When you see Jesus, you see the will and character of God in action. It is significant that Jesus never turned anyone away who came to Him for healing or deliverance. Rather Jesus healed them all (Matt. 8:16; Acts 10:38). It is God’s nature and character to heal the sick. Don’t let anyone tell you that it is only God’s Will to heal some and not others. It is God’s character to heal sickness just as it is His character to forgive sin. We can know this, because of how we see Jesus respond in the Gospels both to sin and sickness. He always forgave, and He always healed. And the Bible declares that He is the same today as He was in Bible days (Heb. 13:8).

Finally, we are told that Jesus upholds all things with the word of His power. We could say that Jesus is the Ultimate Personification of God’s Word. The Greek text says that He upholds “the all” with the “rhema” of his “dunamis.” We need to understand that God’s Power is released into the earth through His Word. God’s Word is a seed that carries within itself the power to produce whatever it says (Mk. 4:14). That’s why it is so important if you need healing to get God’s Healing Scriptures sown into your heart, and also to attend meetings where you know God’s Glory and Power will be in manifestation.
